Truth About Destiny

by Matt Fuhrman

When Christopher Columbus crossed the Atlantic for the first time, he told the Queen of Spain that this was his manifest destiny. It was a term used in the 1400s which meant fulfilling God’s calling to your life and following your gut towards what God deemed your ultimate destiny here on earth.

All of us desire a manifest destiny of our own. I have been in recruitment for 15 years, seen hundreds of thousands of resumes, and have spoken to over 50,000 professionals in transition. Because of these experiences, I have deciphered many patterns through this process.

I’ve learned that your individual calling is driven by two things:

1) What God has impressed upon your heart as a child and

2) Your responses to major events in your life.

For example, my parents both lost their jobs when I was 10 years old. Our family was near financial collapse. It was living through this experience with my family that triggered me to become a high achiever. It accelerated me down a path of personal growth and achievement to avoid the loss that I had experienced.

After my time in a Service Academy, a window opened up. I found myself in the recruitment business helping people find jobs, and I discovered a tremendous sense of purpose through this process. There was a tie to my childhood wound of my parents losing their jobs.  I was now able to be the jobs guy, helping thousands of people in transition. My childhood wound became my empathetic driver towards helping people on mass scale.

What is your path to Manifest Destiny? The journey starts in your own heart by asking God what it is that he has impressed up on you as a child. Once you discover that you must then take a look at your geographical market, job market and angle yourself into a profession that taps into that. We offer a service to help individuals map out this process. If we can help you, let us know.

I built a company to help people find jobs, and our company’s mission is to Connect People to Destiny.
