Eric Carrero - Greater Houston Port Bureau President

Houston, TX - Core Group Resources has successfully identified Eric Carrero as the next President of the Greater Houston Port Bureau.

When GHPB (Greater Houston Port Bureau) President Bill Diehl announced his upcoming retirement, the Board of Directors entrusted Core Group Resources to lead the search for a highly qualified and experienced successor to lead the organization into the future.  That search process has concluded and the Board has selected Eric Carrero as President of the Greater Houston Port Bureau.

“Core Group Resources, a member of the Port Bureau, was selected to conduct the search for the next President. Matt, Craig, and the staff’s professional approach gave us a high level of confidence that we were properly canvasing the market. The search was conducted timely and professionally, within our required timeframe,” said Bernt Netland, Chairman of the Port Bureau.

Eric Carrero brings over 26 years of maritime industry experience to his new role. Prior to joining the organization, Eric served as the Commanding Officer of the Marine Safety Unit Texas City and as the Director of Western Rivers and Waterways for the U.S. Coast Guard Eighth District. In his time there, he was responsible for Port Operations, Commercial Vessel Operations, Port Security and Safety, Marine Salvage and Firefighting, Environmental Protection, Emergency Management and Operational Planning, among others.

On being selected, Carrero said, “I am honored to assume this role and am grateful for the confidence from the Board of Directors. During my time assigned to the Houston area with the U. S. Coast Guard, I worked with some of the best port partners and industry members. I am very happy and excited to be back with this amazing port community and look forward to showcasing our port region to the nation.”

Core Group Resources leveraged their extensive network and industry expertise to identify, vet, and recruit top talent for this critical role. They have used their executive search services to assist clients in the maritime, engineering, and oil & gas sectors (among others), finding supremely talented candidates to fill a multitude of critical organizational roles.

"We are thrilled to have identified Eric Carrero as the successor to the President of the Greater Houston Port Bureau," said Craig Boulet, Vice President of Core Group Resources and head of Executive Search.
