Recent Recruitment Trends to Follow

Passive Candidates who are currently employed make up 70-75% of the workforce. These candidates are open to discuss new opportunities when presented to them. Social media is a key player in reaching these candidates. To expand on the passive candidate, we need to note that LinkedIn is no longer only a professional network, rather it has grown into a very effective tool in sourcing excellent candidates to present to your clients.
With the rise of social media recruiting we are also seeing a rise in Mobile recruiting. According to recent research 1 out of 10 adults in the US are “smartphone-only” internet users. That means companies need a platform that is smartphone friendly for candidate experience. With Gen Z entering the marketplace on the heels of the Millennials we need to cater to these candidates.
This loops around to another trend which is that this is the year of Candidate Experience. Shortening the application process, making it user friendly and providing feedback are three areas where candidate experience can be improved.
Hot on the heels of Employer branding as a trend, in recruitment we have the Employee Value Proposition (EVP) on the horizon. This is the set of benefits which an employee will receive in exchange for their skills and the work they do. This defines the heart of your company and what it stands for.
Continuing with increased computer interaction, Artifical Intelligence (AI) is also growing. This tool is set to make a big wave in HR recruiting as it will assist by filtering key words and only presenting first round qualified candidates for companies to start the interview process.
All in all this is shaping up to be an innovative and exciting time for the recruiting industry.
