Core Group Resources Core Values – God Centered

By Neal Duncan - Core Group Resources VP of Business Development

The Core Values at Core Group Resources include God centered, Service above self, Honesty & Integrity, Commitment to growth, Improving lives through career transition, and Positive.  All of these are equally important to us and our mission to connect people to destiny and our vision of a world with no unemployment.  One of the core values that was a large part of why I took a job with Core Group originally and the one that I believe that all of our Core Values stem from and are strengthened by is our commitment to being God Centered.

There are many ways in which Core Group lives and breathes this particular Core Value and I think it is ultimately exemplified the most in the way we treat each other, our clients, and the candidates that we work with and speak to every day.  While being God Centered to many people at Core Group does reflect their Christian beliefs, this of course is not a requirement to work here or something that we require of clients or candidates.  Ultimately, God Centered means we believe that we are working for a cause that is greater than ourselves.  We believe we are serving a higher purpose by living out all of our Core Values every day and by doing so we are making the world a better place.  Here are some other ways that Core Group demonstrates our God Centered Core Value:

Our founder and CEO, Matt Fuhrman, as well as the President, Matt May, and other “Key Players” of our team are members of the group C-12.  It is a Christian Leadership training program, almost like an executive MBA program that teaches us as business leaders how to run our “Business as a Mission”.  We learn different and better ways to operate our business that in turn helps us avoid costly mistakes, and create solid plans for business growth, all while striving to create eternal impact far beyond the bottom line.  C-12 helps us grow our great company for a greater purpose.

We also have our own Charitable arm called Core Group Cares that includes hosting events to raise money for many different charities as well as doing community outreach and volunteering for a number of local organizations in the Houston area.  Some of the organizations we work with include Kids Meals, which delivers thousands of free meals to underprivileged families every day throughout Houston; The Ballard House, which provides free temporary housing for families that are receiving treatment for serious medical conditions in Houston; The Beacon, which provides a safe place for the homeless to get fed, shower, and get their laundry done for them; The Houston Food Bank, and many others.  This year we held our 2nd Annual golf tournament supporting Mercy Ships which has raised almost $40,000 to date.

Another cool thing that we do at Core Group is that we hold a voluntary Core Group Cares lunch every Thursday where everyone at the company is invited to bring their lunch and come enjoy a time to pray, share, and read scripture together!  It really is an amazing time of fellowship with colleagues where people feel comfortable sharing personal struggles and they receive real healing from the encouragement and prayers of other colleagues.

There are so many things at Core Group that epitomize our God Centered Core Value which is so vital to our ideals.  Again, overall, I believe that it all comes down to how you treat people.  At Core Group we take that responsibility as an honor and a privilege and look forward to inviting countless more employees, clients and candidates into our community as we grow and forge ahead in the years to come.
